He knows that she has lived a good life even if it is a life that he cannot fully imagine. The narrator finds it hard to imagine that his grandmother may have once been young and pretty. In many ways not only is the grandmother there for the narrator but she has dedicated her life to him when she has needed to.

Refresh and try again. Singh’s weekly column, “With Malice towards One and All”, carried by several Indian newspapers, was among the most widely-read columns in the country. There is a sense that the narrator is quick to accept that his grandmother is dead. This too may be important as it not only suggests a strong bond between the narrator and his grandmother but also the fact that they have a strong connection with one another. I like his simple language, sinfh funny bones and ofcourse and amazing Indian narrative. From a young boy to a grown man she has always been there for him. An important post-colonial novelist writing in English, Singh is best known for his trenchant secularism, his humor, and an abiding love of poetry. Good short stories touching various aspects of indian society with unexpected endings: It is also noticeable that hkushwant grandmother is dedicated to God.
